Welcome, cher. My name is Helen Marie Broussard Doucet, daughter of Robert and Jeralyn Broussard, proud wife of Dale Doucet, and mother to teens Bobbie Dale and Colby Doucet.

History is very important to my family, and to the people of Evangline Parish. I am the resident "genealogical guru" and take my job as Evangline's Record Keeper very seriously. Evangline Parish is the oldest parish in Skasimlaki and we have a rich and colorful history; most families here go back through many generations.

Cities & Towns

Acadia is the parish seat of Brandywine Parish, in the US state of Skasimlaki. The current mayor is Wilson Landry.

Also included are the suburban communities of St. Amant and Coteau Homes, the small business town of Nezpique, and the metro area of Iberia.

Young adult sims wishing to continue their education may do so at University of Acadia or the Conti-Rivaudais Community College.

Government & Services

Acadia's presiding prefect is Mayor Wilson Landry, and the current Parish Keeper and resident genealogist is Helen Doucet. The parish branch of the State Horticultural Society is headed by Madeline Blanchard.

Residents are kept informed by the local, daily newspaper, The Evangeline News. Archival records of the newspaper are kept on microfilm and can be accessed at the State Office of Records.

Obituaries on all residents who have moved on from this life can be found at the State Coroner's Office. Deceased residents of Evangeline Parish make their final resting place at Bayou View Cemetery in Iberia.

History

Acadia, and eventually the surrounding areas, were founded by settlers from Canada - mainly the families of Hebert, Broussard, Guerin, Ardoyne, Dupuis, and Robichaux. It's rich history and lively peoples are a trademark known throughout the United States and Skasimlaki. Good food and good times abound in all of Evangline Parish.

Note: Evangeline Parish, it's 'hoods and Sims, are based on the Cajun culture and people of southern Louisiana, of which I am proudly a part. However, all areas and names are borne of my own mind and any similarities to real places or persons is purely coincidental.
