Laketon Parish

I have a lot of pride in my hometown, and my native parish. My great-grandfather, Barry Rutherford, made his fortune in Priene with a successful business career and settled his family in the beautiful, bustling area known as Belladonna Cove nestled along the shore of Mythgarden Lake.

Into this bustling community and a life of privilege my father, Kenneth Rutherford, was born. He met my mother, Leandra Melkin, while attending Samsun Kale University and they were married shortly after graduation. My brother, Geoff, and I had an "easy" life by most people's standards; we came from money and never - even as adults - had to work to support ourselves. I always wanted, however, to give something back to the community and the places that have given my family and I such opportunities. It was with this in mind that I applied for the job of Laketon Parish Keeper.

My grandmother, Rosalyn Rutherford, was the records keeper for the main church office in Priene and all of her records were passed on to me after her death. Using the information I have found in the many boxes of old record books, I have been able to create a vivid and detailed portrait of old Laketon Parish and its residents. I look forward to continuing this work and recording the same for future generations.

Cities & Towns

Belladonna Cove is the parish seat of Laketon Parish, in the US state of Skasimlaki. The current mayor is Marcel Jocque.

The lake-bordered areas of Laketon Parish also include the small town of Blair Township, the well-to-do suburbs of Greenwich Hill and the large city of Priene.

Young adult sims wishing to continue their education may do so at the local Laketon College or the larger Samsun Kale University located on the outskirts of Priene. Sims interested in pursuing degrees in more mechanically or technically-minded careers can choose to attend Mycale Technical College, founded by late, local Sim Vincent Maximillian.

Government & Services

Belladonna Cove's presiding prefect is Mayor Ramir Patel, and the current Parish Keeper and resident genealogist is Marissa Cleveland. The parish branch of the State Horticultural Society is headed by Vivian Riley.

Residents are kept informed by the local, daily newspaper, The Laketon Gazette. Archival records of the newspaper are kept on microfilm and can be accessed at the State Office of Records.

Obituaries on all residents who have moved on from this life can be found at the State Coroner's Office. Deceased residents of Laketon Parish make their final resting place at Gamesend Grounds in Belladonna Cove or Bella Memorial Gardens in Priene.

History

Belladonna Cove and Blair Township were founded by a coven of witches fleeing the Salem Witch Trials in 1692. The area known as Greenwich Hill, which had previously been used for lunar rituals, became a suburb in the 1950s and was filled with the off-spring of witches who wanted to pursue normal lives and other religions.

In August 2008, the areas - which had grown considerably - were combined into Laketon Parish and were incorporated into the State of Skasimlaki.
